Problem: Repeated seal and bearing failures on two sister pumps, forcing the site to run both pumps instead of one duty pump and one spare.
Solution: System review identified reduced NPSH and off-design operation. Custom drop-in replacement pumps were selected with a hydraulic rerate requiring less NPSH.
Result: Restored single-pump operation, improved reliability, and reduced repeated maintenance cost.
Problem: Non-API pumps in molten sulfur service were experiencing frequent seal failures, sometimes daily or weekly.
Solution: A properly jacketed API pump and seal arrangement was selected, installed, and started up under supervision.
Result: Major reliability improvement, avoided repeated repairs, and reduced lost-production exposure.
Problem: A pipeline pump repeatedly tripped on vibration alarms, reducing pipeline capacity and revenue.
Solution: Modal analysis showed the accelerometer was mounted in a resonance plane. The recommendation was to relocate the sensor orientation.
Result: Nuisance trips were resolved with a simple, actionable recommendation.
